GRI Standards Report Registration System

How do I register a GRI Standards-based report or any published material referencing the GRI Standards?

You can register a GRI Standards-based report or any published material referencing the GRI Standards using the GRI Standards Report Registration System or by filling in this FORM.

Once you have logged in, follow the steps to register your report. More information on each step can be found in the Guide to Register a GRI Standards Report.

If you require further assistance or have a question, please contact [email protected].

Do I have to register a GRI Standards-based report on both the GRI Standards Report Registration System and the GRI Sustainability Disclosure Database?

No, you only need to register a report once. All GRI Standards-based reports or published materials need to be registered using the GRI Standards Report Registration System.

Once the registration process is complete, the report information will be published on both the online list of GRI Standards Reports and the GRI Sustainability Disclosure Database.

The list of GRI Standards Reports includes an archive of all the GRI Standards-based reports, while the GRI Sustainability Disclosure Database also contains sustainability reports that are based on previous versions of the GRI Guidelines or that have not used GRI’s reporting framework at all.

Note: You can register either a GRI Standards-based report or another type of sustainability report by logging in to your MyGRI account. If you want to register a GRI Standards-based report, click on the right-hand button ‘Register a GRI Standards-based report’ (see page 11 in the Guide to Register a GRI Standards Report). If you want to register another type of report, click on the left-hand button ‘Register a non GRI Standards-based report’.

For more information on registering a GRI Standards-based report, please consult the Guide to Register a GRI Standards Report. For information about registering a non-GRI Standards-based report in the GRI Sustainability Disclosure Database, contact [email protected].

Why do I see a registered report in the system with the status ‘unverified’ and how do I complete the verification process?

After entering the GRI Standards Report Registration System you may see a list of Standards reports associated with your organization. It is possible that some will show the status ‘unverified’, while others will show the status ‘verified’.

If it is the first case meaning that you will see the status ‘unverified’, then the respective report has been previously added to the system either by a 3rd party (such as data partner or consultants) or by another contact of your organization, but it has not been verified yet. All you need to do is to edit that report and verify it by re-submitting the report.

In the case you did not receive a verification email, please contact [email protected].

Why is the report still not in GRI’s public list after I have registered and verified the information?

If you have registered and verified a report through one of the 2 appropriate channels (the Standards Report Registration System or the form) but the report is not yet listed online on the Database or the List of Standards reports, it may be that your submission is still pending GRI review.

You can check the status of your report by logging in to the GRI Standards Report Registration System.

If the status of your report shows as ‘Verified’ and the status of the public links shows as ‘Pending GRI review’, then the report information you have submitted still needs to be reviewed by GRI. Please note that this process may take some time to complete.

Once the GRI review has been completed, you will receive an email confirming the publication of your report on the public list of GRI Standards Reports and the GRI Sustainability Disclosure Database or, if needed, seeking further information.

Note: The GRI Registration Team does not check the content of the report; it only checks if the information submitted via this system is correctly aligned with the registered report and whether the claim included in the registered report uses the correct wording.

Can I (as a third party) register a report on behalf of a reporting organization?

The GRI Standards Report Registration System is designed to enable reporting organizations to notify GRI of the use of the GRI Standards, as required in clause 3.4 of GRI 101: Foundation. Information about the organization and its report must be completed and verified either:

  • by an individual from the reporting organization or
  • by a 3rd party representing the organization who is authorized to submit the GRI Standards report on the organization's behalf. In addition, the 3rd party must include in the registration an organization’s contact as additional contact and must inform the respective person about sharing their details with GRI for registration purposes.
