SDG Initiatives

The private sector has a significant role to play in accelerating progress on the SDGs. Through close collaboration with the UN, national and regional governments and international organizations, we actively work to introduce smart policy that strengthens the private sector contribution to the SDGs.

Government partnerships

Our policy recommendations call for greater private sector involvement in Voluntary National Reviews.

We also help governments measure business contribution to the SDGs.

Corporate partnerships

In our current project with global power company Enel, we’re researching how the SDGs influence reporting and contribute to the adoption of new partnerships and business models.

Access the documents below or visit our Resource center for access to a range of other helpful tools and resources on the SDGs and the role of the private sector.

The SDG Compass is also a useful resource. It was developed by GRI, the UN Global Compact and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. It guides companies in aligning their strategies with the SDGs and enhancing their contribution to sustainable development through core business activities.

GRI has engaged with UN Global Compact (UNGC) on a number of projects to accelerate business reporting on the SDGs including the partnership on the Action Platform for Reporting on the SDGs. As a signatory of the UNGC, here is our Communication on Engagement.
